Course Description:
This course will update physicians on the latest recommendations involving the medical subspecialties important for the primary care physician through a comprehensive program consisting of lectures, group discussions and Q& sessions focused on the primary care physicians identified professional practice gaps and our Annual ATSU Needs Assessment Survey.

Educational Objectives:
• Review and discuss current diagnostic and therapeutic options for common illnesses and injuries seen in primary care
• Identify new evidence based treatment using the most up to date clinical and scientific information which will lead to reduction in modifiable risk factors
• Employ practice relevant new research to everyday patient encounters

Educational Need:
The demands on the primary care clinician are ever increasing. Topics were selected based on Needs Assessment Surveys and research on the advances and updates in medical topics to effectively treat patients with various chronic medical conditions. With limited time and resources to keep abreast of current and the best clinical evidence the PCP needs education on these frequently seen medical conditions. There remains a gap between recommended preventive services and actual practice.
