ELiTE Advanced Residents and Fellow Shoulder and Elbow Course 2021 is organized by Acumed LLC and will be held on Oct 02, 2021 at Boston BioskillsLab, Boston, Massachusetts, United States of America.
Target Audience:
Orthopedic Resident in their fifth year and Upper Limb Fellows.
Course Overview:
The ELiTE Resident and Fellow Curriculum was designed by Jeffrey Greenberg, MD, Fellowship Director at Indiana Hand to Shoulder Center, and Jerry Huang, MD, Fellowship Director at University of Washington Combined Hand Fellowship, in collaboration with leading orthopedic resident and fellowship educators in the United States. The Advanced Elbow and Should Resident and Fellow Course is a full-day cadaveric program with didactic lectures, case review, and hands-on surgical skills practice time.
Learning Objectives:
Elbow:
• Evaluate and understand treatment and rehabilitation for the throwing athlete.
• Evaluate and understand surgical treatment of complex distal humerus fractures.
• Discuss indications for ORIF distal humerus fractures vs total elbow arthroplasty and surgical techniques for ORIF vs, Arthroplasty for radial heal fractures.
• Evaluate and understand treatment protocol and surgical approaches for the stiff elbow.
• Understand techniques for treating associated soft tissue injuries of the elbow.
• Practice surgical techniques for approach and dissection of complex indications in the elbow.
Shoulder:
• Understand surgical indications and technical pearls for treatment of proximal humeral fractures with a nail vs plate.
• Understand arthroplasty options for complex proximal humeral fractures.
• Evaluate and treat clavicle fractures with a plate or IM fixation.
• Evaluate and understand surgical indications and techniques of fractures of the acromion, glenoid and scapula.
• Practice surgical techniques for approach, dissection, and fixation of complex fractures in the shoulder.
