Frenectomies & Beyond: A Modern Approach to Lasers in Dentistry is organized by American Academy of Craniofacial Pain (AACP) and will be held on Feb 07 - 08, 2020 at Holiday Inn Dallas-Fort Worth Airport S, Fort Worth, Texas, United States of America. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 16 CE credits.

Target Audience:
General Dentists, Pediatric Dentists, Physicians, Residents, RDH, SLPs, IBCLCs, Chiropractors, Massage Therapists, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, all other allied health providers.

Course Description:
Ankyloglossia, Tethered Oral Tissues (TOTS), and Oral Restrictions are best identified, diagnosed and treated by knowledgeable providers. This course will explore material that shows the importance of understanding facial development necessary for proper growth & development, airway, feeding, and speech and the implications of TOTS as one of the contributing factors.

Orofacial Myology Disorders (OMDs) will be defined and cases presented for all ages to illustrate normal and abnormal oral facial structures and the development of compensatory habits that affect speech, chewing, swallowing and breathing.

Ankyloglossia & Oral Restrictions will be presented addressing basic and advanced therapy in the areas of observation, diagnosis, laser surgery, postoperative active wound care,Orofacial myofunctional therapy and wound healing.

The goal of the program is to enhance the understanding of the issues related to Oral Restrictions and their implications on development, feeding & airway. Lasers used in dentistry are presented detailing the physics of ablation, cutting, coagulation & laser safety. This course provides a hands-on participation segment in addition to didactic basic laser science.

Learning Objectives:
• Demonstrate didactic and clinical tools for the use of lasers in dentistry
• Present basic knowledge and education about dental lasers adhering to established standards of education
• Instruct dentists, lactation consultants, speech & language and other allied health care providers in the efficient and safe application of laser energy in everyday practice
• Demonstrate a wide range of didactic and clinical tools in the assessment & treatment of oral restrictions
• Learn how to identify barriers and contributing factors that interfere with speech development and orofacial myology therapy in ankyloglossia, oral habits, & airway
• Recognize when to refer to other professionals
• Understand the importance of developing a multidisciplinary team
• Discuss practice management and care for patients of all ages as it relates to oral restrictions.
