OVERVIEW

Altered airway workshop day on Safe management of airway stents, laryngectomy and tracheostomy patients (for non-RBHT staff) is organized by Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Foundation Trust (RBHT) and will be held on Apr 08, 2019 at Clinical Skills and Simulation Centre (CSSC) Royal Brompton Hospital, London, England, United Kingdom.

Course Description:
This one-day interactive course aims to address competency training of multidisciplinary teams caring for patients with tracheostomy, laryngectomy and thoracic airway stents. This multi-disciplinary initiative is facilitated by the critical care department, respiratory medicine and anaesthesia; it is based on the National Tracheostomy Safety Project recommendations for clinical standards of practice with emergency algorithms.

Who is this for?
Trainees, nurses and allied health professionals in critical care and respiratory medicine.

Course objectives:
Topics covered will enable all participants to increase their understanding of needs of patients with altered airway and gain confidence in managing an emergency, through introductory lectures, small group stations and immersive simulation.
