3D Printing Technology For Dentists is organized by Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of University of Southern California (USC) and will be held from Oct 05 - 06, 2019 at Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC, Los Angeles, California, United States of America. This Course has been approved for a maximum of 16 Continuing Education Credits.
This Course is intended for:
This workshop course is designed and intended for dentists only.
Course Description:
Dentistry has seen significant technological advances in the last decade enhancing the precision and predictability of treatment. Although surgical implants placement and endodontic treatment are predictable modality, certain case limitations may lead to failure. Difficult access, severely calcified canals and inaccessible surgical sites, can lead to failures or poor to guarded prognosis.
The purpose of this comprehensive course is to introduce new digital technology related to 3D printing and planning for both implants and endodontic cases. These advancements in digital dentistry has made such cases predictable and highly successful. It also increases patients’ acceptance to treatment. Understanding this technology allows for minimally invasive procedures with much lower risks.
Topics To Be Covered:
Day 1 - Morning Session:
• The role of digital evaluation and treatment planning.
• CBCT scans; Myths and Reality.
• Types of affordable printers available for dentistry.
• Pros, cons and limitations of some printers and softwares.
• Open interface planning softwares - BlueSky Plan and Meshmixer.
Day 1 - Afternoon Session:
• Printing and designing of implant surgical guides using BlueSky Plan.
• Hands-on planning in BSP, Meshmixer and RayWare, using attendees own laptops.
* Attendees are encouraged to bring laptops with a gaming video card equivalent to or higher than Nvidia GTX 1060.
Day 2:
• 3D guided endodontics. K-Endo access guide for severely calcified cases, clinical cases presentation, 3D guided endodontics.
• K-Endo surgical guide fabrication and applications.
• Hands-on planning of an endodontic access guide.
At Conclusion Participants Should Be Able To:
• Develop a balanced decision process of guided case selection and treatment planning.
• Use the RayWare Software for dental 3D printing applications.
• Create an Implant surgical guide in BSP.
• Develop an understanding of the use of the KEndo access guide and its applications.
• Develop an understanding of new advancements in 3D endodontics and 3D apical surgery utilizing guided technology.
• Use BSB (Blue Sky Bio) software to design and fabricate the K-Endo guides for treating moderate to severe calcified cases and apical surgery.
