Pacific Neuroscience Symposium is organized by Academic Event Management and would be held during Sep 22 - 23, 2017 at Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel, Santa Monica, California, United States Of America.
The target audience for this medical event for Neurologists, neurosurgeons, neuro-oncologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, endocrinologists, ophthalmologists, otolaryngologists, primary care physicians, head and neck surgeons, pain specialists, dentists, nurses and nurse practitioners. This CME Conference has been approved with a maximum of 13.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
Course Description :
This 2-day symposium will provide a comprehensive update on a wide spectrum of neurological disorders including the management of patients with benign and malignant brain tumors, pituitary tumors, stroke, cerebral aneurysm, adult hydrocephalus, movement disorders and facial pain syndromes.
Recent studies indicate that brain tumors, skull base tumors, pituitary tumors, cerebrovascular disorders including stroke, aneurysm and AVM, movement disorders such as Parkinson's disease and essential tremor, hydrocephalus, and facial pain syndromes such as trigeminal neuralgia are relatively common but often misdiagnosed or slowly diagnosed. Additionally, the rapid pace of change in treatment options such as targeted therapies and immunotherapies for brain tumors, minimally invasive keyhole surgical options for brain and skull base tumors, as well as new stem cell therapies for stroke are poorly appreciated by much of the medical community. This conference will provide a comprehensive update on the clinical manifestations of these neuroscience disorders and recent treatment advances both surgical, medical and radiation-based, as well as discuss existing clinical trials for these disorders.
Conference Objectives are :
• Discuss the use of current targeted therapies and immuno-therapies for high-grade gliomas and metastatic brain tumors
• Discuss the use and benefit of keyhole surgery and radiosurgery for metastatic brain tumors
• Define the new clinical trials for high-grade gliomas
• Explain how new WHO glioma classification impacts treatment options
• Identify indications and outcomes for endoscopic endonasal surgery for pituitary adenomas
• Recognize the medical treatment options for Acromegaly and Cushing’s Disease
• Define diagnosing and managing uncommon and rare parasellar and non-pituitary tumors and lesions
• Recognize the new guidelines for stroke treatment
• Identify the new endovascular treatment options for ruptured and unruptured cerebral aneurysms
• Define the surgical treatment options for more uncommon vascular disorders including cavernous malformations and Moyamoya Disease
• Describe the essentials of dementia workup and use of advanced imaging
• Discuss the indications and efficacy of VP shunting for normal pressure hydrocephalus
• Recognize the current clinical trials for patients with malignant brain tumors and stroke
• Describe the use of new medications and deep brain stimulation for treatment of Parkinson’s disease and essential tremor
• Identify the symptoms and medical and surgical management of trigeminal neuralgia, hemifacial spasm and glossopharyngeal neuralgia
