The National Medical Association (NMA)’s Annual Convention and Scientific Assembly is acclaimed as the nation’s foremost forum on medical science and African American health. Each year, African American physicians and other health professionals from across the country convene to participate in the scholarly exchange of medical advances, discuss health policy priorities, and to share experience through networking opportunities.

In concert with our 26 dedicated Scientific Section Chairs, Convention Committee and staff, we have worked tirelessly to provide you with an extensive array of programs, sessions, and networking opportunities that will meet your professional and personal expectations.

The healthcare landscape will undergo changes in the foreseeable future and these changes are likely to affect our organization, profession and the patients we serve. We have chosen “Empowering African American Healthcare: One Community at a Time” as this year’s conference theme, because we must intensify our efforts to develop a cadre of grassroots advocacy leaders that are poised to influence local, state and national health agendas, particularly as they impact upon African American communities. We must work purposefully to empower one community at a time.
